Scheurebe
Scheurebe is one of those grape varieties you simply must know: bred in 1916 by Georg Scheu in Rheinhessen, it delights with an intense, unmistakable aroma. Blackcurrant , juicy grapefruit, and a hint of tropical fruit meet a lively, fresh acidity – resulting in wines with true personality and wonderful structure.
Scheurebe is primarily at home in Rheinhessen and the Palatinate, where it develops its full aromatic potential on the right soils. At Vinoscout, you'll discover 13 carefully selected wines of this variety – from dry and crisp to lusciously sweet – starting at just €5.99 . Let yourself be surprised by a grape variety that is unjustly overshadowed by Riesling.

Scheurebe – the underestimated variety with character
Scheurebe is one of the most exciting white grape varieties in Germany – and at the same time one of the most underestimated. Those who give it a chance will be rewarded with a wine that shows true character: aromatic, concise and unmistakable. Typical for the variety are a lively fruitiness with hints of blackcurrant and grapefruit as well as a spicy, sometimes slightly herbal note that clearly sets it apart from other German white wines.
Origin and style
Scheurebe was bred in Germany and still has its home there today – especially in the Palatinate, Rheinhessen and Baden. It ripens late and needs good sites to unfold its full potential. Vinified dry, it shows itself fresh and straightforward with plenty of emphasis on the palate. As a Spätlese or in sweeter styles, it develops a lush, almost exotic depth that makes it an ideal companion for heartier dishes or as a wine on its own.
