Carmenère is a grape variety with a remarkable history: forgotten for a long time, it was rediscovered in Chile and developed there into an independent identity. The wines typically show a deep, dark color and appear full-bodied on the palate with soft, ripe tannins. Spicy, slightly smoky notes combine with dark fruit aromas – this makes Carmenère an unmistakable red wine that clearly stands out from Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.
