Lemberger – the Swabian red wine with character

Lemberger is a grape variety that you should know – especially if red wines with substance and personality are important to you. The wine typically shows itself to be powerful and spicy, with dark fruit, a pleasant acidity, and often a slight peppery pull in the finish. At the same time, it remains accessible and is uncomplicated to drink – whether young and fruity or matured with more depth.

A grape variety with roots in Württemberg

In Germany, Lemberger is primarily at home in Württemberg, where it has been considered one of the most important red grape varieties for generations. Outside of Germany, the variety is known under the name Blaufränkisch – for example in Austria, where it is also vinified into impressive wines. Both names, one and the same grape.
