Lemberger is Württemberg's pride and joy and one of Germany's most exciting red wine varieties. In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red and exudes an enticing aroma of cherries, blackberries, and plums , often accompanied by a hint of pepper or violets. Depending on the winemaking process, it can be fruity, lively, and uncomplicated, or a serious, tannic wine with genuine aging potential – this versatility is what makes it so fascinating.
Its home is the sunny, sheltered vineyards along the Neckar River, where it develops its full character on Keuper and loess soils . In Austria, the same variety is known as Blaufränkisch and is also highly regarded there.
