Origin & Character

Malvasia Fina has been growing for centuries in the slate and granite soils of the Portuguese Douro Valley, where extreme summers and cool nights shape the berry's aromatics. As a component of white port wine cuvées, it brings floral notes, ripe pear, and a hint of almond to the glass. Depending on the vinification – dry or semi-dry – the variety shows itself either fresh and lively with vibrant acidity or softer and nutty with a long, slightly honeyed finish. White port wines based on Malvasia Fina are traditionally drunk young, but in the dry style, they can also be convincing as an aperitif.
