Moscato d'Alessandria
Moscato d'Alessandria, also known as Zibibbo, is one of the most fascinating ancient varieties of Sicily. In this selection, you will find two wines that wonderfully show the potential of this grape. The Donnafugata Lighea Zibibbo smells wonderfully of orange blossoms and peach – a great partner for pasta con le sarde. The Ceuso Le Arbe brings a radiant freshness into the glass through the sea breezes, paired with notes of melon and honey. Both wines tell the story of their sunny home in an honest and direct way that brings joy.The same grape variety goes by other names depending on its origin. In this selection, you will also find it as Muscat d'Alexandria.

Moscato d'Alessandria – aromatic white wine from Sicily
Known as Zibibbo, this ancient Muscat variety is at home in Sicily – and in the Vinoscout range, you can currently find a wine made from it, starting at 12.80 euros. The Donnafugata Lighea Zibibbo gives a good impression of what this grape variety can do.
Origin & Character
Moscato d'Alessandria, simply called Zibibbo in Sicily, belongs to the large Muscat family and has been rooted in the Mediterranean region for centuries. In Sicily, it thrives particularly well in the heat of the south and on the offshore island of Pantelleria, where it becomes the base for the famous Passito sweet wine. As a dry white wine – like the Lighea from Donnafugata – it shows distinct aromas: peach, orange blossom, fresh herbs, and a hint of apricot. The palate is full-bodied, yet lively due to a fresh acidity that keeps everything in balance. Not a heavy, opulent wine, but an aromatically intense one that still radiates lightness.
Pairs well with
- Grilled fish and seafood, especially prawns or calamari
- Light antipasti with citrus vinaigrette or capers
- Fresh goat cheese and mild soft cheese
- Asian-inspired dishes with ginger or coriander
