Quick answers

What is Prensal Blanc and where is it grown?

Prensal Blanc is the classic white wine grape variety of Mallorca — native almost exclusively to the island and part of its wine culture for centuries. You will hardly encounter this variety outside the Balearic Islands.

What does a wine from Prensal Blanc taste like?

Typical are light fruit aromas, a fresh, lively acidity, and a pleasantly light structure. The wines appear uncomplicated and aromatic — Mediterranean in the best sense, without heaviness.

Which dishes does Prensal Blanc go well with?

The variety harmonizes particularly well with light fish, seafood, and Mediterranean cuisine. Tapas, grilled prawns, or a simple fish dish from the grill are classic companions.

How does Prensal Blanc differ from other white wines?

Unlike internationally widespread varieties like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, Prensal Blanc is a distinct island variety with regional character. No big tannin play, no wood notes — but freshness, fruit, and drinkability.

How do I recognize a good Prensal Blanc?

Look for producers who vinify the variety as a single varietal or as the main component of the cuvée. Freshness and aromatics are in the foreground — a good Prensal Blanc smells lively and does not taste flat or oxidative.

Is Prensal Blanc more suitable for beginners or wine connoisseurs?

Both. Its accessibility makes it ideal for anyone who likes dry white wines without needing complex prior knowledge. At the same time, the variety is worth it for connoisseurs as a true rarity from the western Mediterranean.

Prensal Blanc – the quiet soul of Mallorca

Prensal Blanc is an indigenous white wine variety from Mallorca that hardly anyone knows outside the island – and that is exactly what makes it so special. The variety produces wines that reflect the Mediterranean character of their home: fresh, aromatically restrained, and with a pleasant texture that makes them a true food companion. If you do not like loud, intrusive white wines, but appreciate depth and authenticity, you have come to the right place.

One grape variety, one island

Prensal Blanc – also known as Moll on Mallorca – thrives primarily in the protected locations of the island. The winemakers there have relied on this variety for generations because it expresses the terroir of the Balearic Islands like hardly any other grape. Bodegas Ribas, one of the oldest wineries on Mallorca, and Ànima Negra are among the most famous addresses for this grape variety – both are represented at Vinoscout.

Three wines that are worth it

Our range is deliberately small and hand-picked: With the Quíbia from Ànima Negra, the Ribas Blanc from Bodegas Ribas, and the Nounat from Binigrau, you have winemakers to choose from who interpret Prensal Blanc in their own unique way. If you want to experience Mallorca in a glass, start here.
