Rabigato
Rabigato is a white grape variety from Portugal that you should definitely get to know. Its name translates to "cat's tail" and refers to the elongated, compact shape of the grapes. Its home is in the Douro Valley and Trás-os-Montes, where it thrives on the barren slate soils and under the hot sun. What makes it so special is its ability to retain a lively, precise acidity even in warm years, which gives it an amazing freshness and structure. In the glass, it has an enticing aroma of citrus fruits, green apples, pears and white blossoms, often accompanied by a subtle mineral note reminiscent of the slate of its homeland. On the palate, it is dry, elegant and taut with a lively acidity and sometimes a slight bitterness in the finish.
