Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage

At Taylor's, all grapes are hand-harvested and immediately processed with care in the winery. The winemaker begins the two- to three-day fermentation at a maximum temperature of 30°C to preserve the aromatic fruit as completely as possible. Then, once about half the sugar has fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by adding high-proof alcohol, thus retaining the desired fine, natural residual sweetness. The young wine then matures in traditional 630-liter wooden casks. Unlike Vintage Port, which is bottled after just one year of cask aging and then slowly matures in the bottle, Late Bottled Vintage matures for around four years in the cask and is ready to drink at bottling. To complete the final blend, some of the finest and most full-bodied reserve wines produced by Taylor's on its quintas in Cima Corgo and Douro Superior are added. Colour: deep ruby red with black reflections. Aroma: aromatic bouquet with plenty of dark berry fruit, aromas of black cherries and plums, beautifully clear and pure. Taste: balanced, smooth and round on the palate with a wealth of juicy berry aromas (blueberries, raspberries), a hint of licorice and elegant, firmly woven tannins that give the wine its great structure; the fine residual sweetness becomes particularly noticeable in the finish, wonderfully long, extremely delicious, a port in the best Taylor's style.
