Origin & Character

Originally at home in the northern Rhône, Roussanne has established itself in warmer growing regions worldwide. The variety ripens late, produces comparatively low yields, and is sensitive to its terroir – which makes the wines interesting but rare. In the glass, Roussanne shows floral aromas of herbal tea, white peach, and beeswax, plus a creamy texture and lively acidity that gives the wine length. With some maturity, notes of quince and roasted nuts develop. In the cuvée – as is often common in South Africa – it brings fullness and aromatic complexity.
