Muscadelle
The Muscadelle grape is a true hidden gem that you absolutely must discover. Often overshadowed by more famous varieties, it impresses with its unique character: it brings a wonderfully floral note to the glass, reminiscent of fresh summer flowers, complemented by a hint of ripe apricot and honeydew melon. Its approachable and smooth nature makes it an ideal choice for relaxed evenings. Whether as an uncomplicated accompaniment to a light fish platter or simply enjoyed on the balcony as the sun slowly sets.Filters

Muscadelle – the quiet power in Sauternes
Muscadelle is one of the rarest grape varieties in the white wine range at Vinoscout. We currently carry one wine with a Muscadelle component, starting at 39.49 euros – a Sauternes that shows the variety in its classic environment.
Origin & character
Muscadelle comes from the Bordeaux region and traditionally plays a supporting role there in the cuvées of Sauternes and Barsac – alongside Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Its share is usually small, but its influence is noticeable: floral aromas of acacia blossom and nutmeg, plus a soft, almost oily texture. In Sauternes, it reinforces the sweetness and complexity of the noble sweet cuvées without dominating their structure. Outside of France, it hardly appears – which makes it a real rarity in the wine trade.
Pairs well with
- Foie gras terrine or foie gras
- Roquefort and other strong blue cheeses
- Tarte Tatin and caramelized desserts
- Poached lobster with butter sauce
