Zinfandel – California's powerful soul in a glass

Zinfandel is the red wine variety of California – lush, full-bodied, and with an unmistakable warmth that hardly any other grape variety brings into the glass so directly. Typical of good Zinfandels are ripe dark fruits, a powerful body, and often a spicy, slightly peppery finish. The alcohol is usually generous, which gives the wine its velvety fullness. Whether young and fruity or aged with more depth – Zinfandel appeals to everyone who likes wine without detours.

Roots in California

Although the variety is genetically related to the southern Italian Primitivo, it has found its true home in California. Regions such as Sonoma, Mendocino County, or Lodi are considered classic Zinfandel terroirs, where particularly old vines – so-called Old Vines – produce concentrated, characterful wines.
