Coppola Diamond Collection Zinfandel

Coppola Diamond Collection Zinfandel
A Zinfandel that combines the versatility of California in one bottle: fruity and powerful with a spicy backbone.
Francis Ford Coppola did not build his vineyards in Northern California just as a hobby project — today, the winery in Geyserville, Sonoma County, is one of the most famous addresses in the state. The Diamond Collection stands for accessible, drinkable wines with a clear regional character. The grapes for this Zinfandel come from three different sites: Amador County in the Sierra Foothills as well as cooler zones in Paso Robles and Sonoma County. This diversity of origin gives the wine structure and depth.
In the glass, ripe blackberry and black cherry appear, underpinned by cassis and a hint of strawberry jam. The 10 percent share of Petite Sirah brings darker fruit and strengthens the tannin structure. Barrique aging provides the appropriate vanilla note in the background — integrated, not dominant. The finish is warm and long.
Serving recommendation: Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with pulled pork, spareribs with smoky marinade, chorizo, or strong mountain cheese.

The world-renowned director purchased the magnificent Niebaum Cottage in Rutherford (Nappe Valley) back in 1979, originally intended as a weekend retreat. After its renovation, the opportunity for viticulture was seized, and this quickly proved fruitful. This led to the creation of the two product lines, Rosso & Blanco and Diamond Collection, which are still in production today. The Rosso & Blanco line, in particular, is a tribute to his Italian roots. In 1998, Corey Beck joined the winery, rising to the position of director and, in 2014, being appointed president of Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
