Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel

Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel
Lodi is the heart of American Zinfandel — and Ironstone Vineyards draws from a fund of old vines that give the wine a concentration that younger plantings simply cannot reach. The vineyard district east of San Francisco is considered the warmest and driest Zinfandel zone in California, which allows the berries to ripen slowly and completely.
In the glass, a deep ruby red appears. On the nose, dark blackberry and plum dominate, underscored by a hint of pepper and clove. On the palate, the dark fruit continues — concentrated, but not heavy. Red raspberry brings freshness into play, the texture is silky, the finish long and warm with a light spice in the aftertaste.
Pairs with a pulled pork sandwich, a hearty tomato ragù, or grilled beef skewers with chimichurri. It also cuts a fine figure with hard cheeses like Manchego. Best served at 16–18 °C.
