Kendall-Jackson is one of California's defining names when it comes to wines with coastal character. Jess Jackson founded the winery in 1982 with the goal of vinifying grapes from the cool coastal locations between Monterey and Sonoma — regions where sea breezes slow down ripening and sharpen the aromatics. The result is wines that combine freshness and substance without feeling heavy.
The best-known example is the Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay: a wine that has shown for decades what Californian Chardonnay can do when it is blended from several coastal locations and aged with care.
