Muskattrollinger
Muskattrollinger is one of those grape varieties you simply have to try – a true original from Württemberg, found only here. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a hybrid, but an independent variety from the Muscat family, documented since 1836. Internationally, it is also known as Muscat d'Hambourg. What makes it so special is its irresistible fragrance: In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red and smells intensely of roses, nutmeg, gooseberry, blackcurrant, and sometimes cardamom. Other versions surprise with aromas of sweet cherry, wild rose, and red berries. On the palate, it reveals itself to be surprisingly versatile – sometimes as a powerful red with a spicy note and a bitter walnut shell, sometimes as a light, refreshing white wine or rosé. Its lively acidity and distinctive bouquet make it the ideal companion for balmy summer evenings, with antipasti, or simply on its own. A wine that polarizes opinions and is precisely for that reason so exciting.

Muskattrollinger — the Württemberg rarity with a muscat scent
Two wines from Württemberg are waiting for you here — a small but fine selection of this rare grape variety that you will hardly find in your glass outside the region. The entry price starts at 6.99 euros.
Origin & Character
Muskattrollinger is an old Württemberg cross between Trollinger and Muscat grape, which is grown almost exclusively in the Remstal and the surrounding vineyards. The variety produces light, fruity red and rosé wines that are characterized by an unmistakable Muscat bouquet — floral, with hints of rose blossom, red currant, and fresh grape. On the palate, the wine remains slender, with soft acidity and little tannin. The rosé wines in particular turn out to be delicately fruity and easy to drink, while the red wine variant brings a little more fruit depth. Both styles are to be drunk young and are suitable for uncomplicated moments of enjoyment.
Pairs well with
- Vesper board with sausages and pretzel pastries
- Light pasta with tomatoes or fresh herbs
