Today, the variety shows what it is made of: dry white wines with fresh acidity, a light body, and a character that reflects the Sicilian sun as well as the cool sea breeze. Typical features are a lively, clear fruit and a pleasant minerality that makes the wine vibrant and easy to drink – without being intrusive.

Pure Sicily – from the lowlands to Mount Etna

All wines in this category come from Sicily, where Catarratto has been rooted for generations. The location makes the difference: wineries like Firriato also vinify the variety in the high altitudes around Mount Etna, where cooler temperatures give the wine additional tension and depth.
