Firriato
Firriato –
a family estate from western Sicily, organic & full of character
Firriato was founded in 1985 by Salvatore Di Gaetano and his wife Vinizia Novara on a plot of land in western Sicily, where tuff and red sand provide a distinctive foundation for the vines. Today, the winery cultivates six sites with approximately 300 hectares of vineyards and is one of the island's most important wineries.
The focus is on the great Sicilian grape varieties: Nero d'Avola for deeply fruity, structured red wines, Grillo for fresh, aromatically precise white wines – complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay. All vineyards are cultivated organically according to BioAgriCert guidelines, which is reflected in the vibrancy of the wines. The Gambero Rosso star confirms what can be tasted in the glass: craftsmanship with high standards.
Over three-quarters of the 4.25 million bottles produced annually are exported to more than 30 countries – a testament to the fact that Sicilian wine culture has long since gained recognition beyond the island. Those who drink Firriato wines experience western Sicily in their glass: sun-ripened, with a mineral undertone, and imbued with the warmth of a family history.
