Tastes very good,
The Altavilla della Corte Grillo Sicilia from Firriato tastes dry, aromatic, and slightly salty. Green apple and white almonds appear in the glass. These are joined by Mediterranean herbs: thyme, sage, and a hint of rosemary.
The Grillo is full-bodied yet remains fresh. The acidity is present but softly integrated. At 13.5% vol, the wine feels powerful without becoming heavy.
The wine matures for three months in steel tanks. This keeps the fruit direct and clear; there are no wood aromas. The finish is dry and carries the salty aftertaste of the island. The grapes grow on the Altavilla della Corte estate in the province of Trapani, one of the hottest and windiest corners of Sicily.
