Cavanera bianco Balza delle Poiane

From the northern slopes of Mount Etna, grown on volcanic lava rock — the Cavera bianco Balza delle Poiane is a white wine that brings the rugged minerality of the volcano directly into the glass.

Firriato is one of Sicily's most renowned wineries and cultivates vineyards directly on the slopes of Mount Etna with its Cavanera estate. The high altitude ensures cool nights, slow ripening, and a pronounced acidity – unusual for Sicilian white wine.

In the glass, it displays aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and a hint of salt. The palate is taut, with lively acidity and a long, mineral, smoky finish reminiscent of cooled lava. Not a sumptuous southern wine—rather lean, precise, with genuine depth.

Best served at 10–12 °C . Pairs well with grilled sea bass with capers, spaghetti alle vongole, or a young pecorino cheese. Also a good choice as an aperitif with seafood. Drinking window: now until 2027.
