Nerello Mascalese is a red grape variety from Sicily that is primarily at home on the slopes of Mount Etna. The wines produced from it have attracted worldwide attention in recent years – and for good reason. Those who drink Nerello Mascalese get red wines with a light color, lively acidity, and an unmistakable mineral note that one inevitably associates with the volcanic soil of Mount Etna. The tannins are often fine and silky, the style more elegant than powerful – comparisons to Burgundy are not uncommon.

The variety is firmly rooted in Mount Etna on Sicily. The volcanic ash, the altitude, and the large temperature differences between day and night decisively shape the character of these wines.
