Chiaramonte Nero d'Avola Sicilia

Chiaramonte Nero d'Avola Sicilia
Nero d'Avola in its most direct form: powerful, spicy, with the sun-drenched character of Sicily in the glass.
The Firriato winery is one of the island's most well-known addresses. Since the 1990s, they have been cultivating indigenous grape varieties in their own vineyards in western Sicily — around Trapani and on Pantelleria — with the goal of preserving the best of the Sicilian terroir tradition. The Chiaramonte is their entry into the world of Nero d'Avola: accessible, but not generic.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, blackberry and ripe plum, accompanied by dark spice notes — cinnamon, a hint of black pepper. Six months of barrique aging give the wine structure without overpowering the fruit: velvety tannins, medium body, lively acidity that carries the long, slightly spicy finish.
- Food: Pasta al ragù, grilled lamb chops, mature Pecorino, or eggplant dishes (Caponata, Parmigiana)
- Temperature: 16–18 °C

Firriato – a winery in Sicily, founded in 1985 by Salvatore Di Gaetano and his wife Vinizia Novara. What they have built is now one of the largest and most highly regarded wineries on the island. Six locations in western Sicily, encompassing around 300 hectares of vineyards on tuff and red sand. They produce 4.25 million bottles annually, three-quarters of which are exported to over 30 countries. Predominant grape varieties are Nero d'Avola and Grillo, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah. Organic farming according to "BioAgriCert" standards and a Gambero Rosso star – this is top-class Sicilian wine that you can taste.
