Lytton Springs Zinfandel Lytton
A Zinfandel with real depth: fruity and spicy, full-bodied and with a finish that doesn't simply end.
Ridge Vineyards in Sonoma County is one of the most renowned producers of American Zinfandel. The Lytton Springs winery in the Dry Creek Valley AVA has been supplying grapes for this classic wine for decades—old vines growing on gravelly loam soils that give the wine its characteristic weight and spice.
On the nose, the wine opens with red and black raspberries, ripe plums, and a distinctive hint of white pepper. These are followed by fennel, sage, and a touch of sarsaparilla—this herbaceous, slightly earthy note is typical of Dry Creek Zinfandel from this vineyard. On the palate, it is full-bodied with blackberry and dark chocolate, a juicy acidity that balances the richness, and a long, spicy finish.
Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, BBQ ribs, or pulled pork —this wine easily handles strong roasted aromas and smoky spices. Also a good choice with mature Cheddar or Gorgonzola.
