Petite Sirah Lytton Estate

Petite Sirah Lytton Estate
Petite Sirah has a long history in California – and Ridge's Lytton Estate in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley is one of the most convincing addresses for this grape variety. Deep dark ruby violet in the glass, dense body, but with a precision that one might not always expect from this often powerful variety.
Ridge has been cultivating the Lytton Estate since the 1970s. The dry summers and cool Pacific winds of the Dry Creek Valley ensure that the grapes retain their structure despite full ripeness. Vinification is traditional: long maceration, aging in American oak.
On the nose, dried plum, blackberry, and cocoa bean appear, complemented by an earthy depth and a subtle smoky touch. On the palate, surprisingly fine, velvety tannins – rather untypical for Petite Sirah and a clear sign of careful hand-harvesting and controlled extraction. The finish is long, spicy, with a hint of dark chocolate.
Serving recommendation: 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb, ribeye with herb butter, or aged cheddar.
