Today, Walter and Alexander Beisiegel, the fourth generation, manage 13 hectares of vineyards in the Traisen and Norheim sites – characterized by porphyry and melaporphyry soils that impart a distinctive minerality and almost salty spiciness to the Rieslings. Without compromise in vineyard management and without aggressive chemicals, they produce wines that make their terroir immediately apparent in the glass.

The decisive step into the modern era came in 1959 , when the family bottled their own wines for the first time. Today, father Walter and son Alexander Beisiegel run the business together; Alexander has been actively involved in the winery since 2012 and is primarily responsible for the cellar work. With them, the winery has entered its fourth generation – and is in excellent hands.

Vineyards and terroir

The Beisiegel family cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards, spread across the Traisen and Norheim sites. The specific addresses evoke classic Nahe wines: Traisener Rotenfels, Traisener Nonnengarten, and Traisener Kickelskopf on one side, and Norheimer Onkelchen and Kreuznacher Kapellenpfad on the other. What unites these sites is their exceptional subsoil: porphyry and melaporphyry – volcanic weathered rocks that are among the most characteristic soils of German viticulture. They retain heat, promote deep rooting, and impart a minerality to the wines that, in the top sites, is almost salty. Riesling takes center stage – that's the motto in the Middle Nahe region. Alongside this, the Beisiegel family cultivates classic Burgundy varieties as well as Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, and Kerner. Pinot Noir leads the red wine selection, complemented by Dornfelder, Portugieser, Frühburgunder, St. Laurent, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are produced in estate, village, and single-vineyard categories. Those with a spirit of discovery will find something to their liking in the skin-fermented Pinot Gris "Orange Wine" from the steep Traisener Rotenfels vineyard – an unusual wine with spice and grapefruit zest aromas that demonstrates the winery's experimental approach despite its strong local roots.
