Beisiegel Traisener Nonnengarten Riesling Ice Wine

Beisiegel Traisener Nonnengarten Riesling Ice Wine
An ice wine that literally emerged from an exceptional situation: on December 12, 2019, the grapes were harvested at −11 °C — this is how Germany's most concentrated, rarest sweet wines are created.
Weingut Beisiegel cultivates the Traisener Nonnengarten on the Nahe, a region known for its steep Riesling vineyards on porphyry rock. This mineral subsoil gives even the Luscious wines a precise structure that prevents them from being heavy.
The extreme concentration of the harvest is evident in the glass: aromas of passion fruit, candied mango, and dried apricot, underpinned by a clear citrus pull that keeps the sweetness in balance. The finish is long, mineral, and characterized by a lively acidity — no sugar without tension.
- Temperature: 8–10 °C
- Pairs with: Foie gras Pâté, Roquefort, Tarte Tatin, or on its own as a dessert in a glass

The Beisiegel winery in Traisen on the Nahe River is a true family business with deep roots: The family has been based in Traisen since 1579, and they have been bottling their own wines since 1959. Today, Walter and Alexander Beisiegel, the fourth generation, manage 13 hectares of vineyards in the Traisen and Norheim sites – characterized by porphyry and melaporphyry soils that impart a distinctive minerality and almost salty spiciness to the Rieslings. Without compromise in vineyard management and without aggressive chemicals, they produce wines that make their terroir immediately apparent in the glass.
