Beisiegel Traisener Rotenfels Frühburgunder

Frühburgunder is the older, more mature sister of Spätburgunder – less tannin, but a more velvety mouthfeel and a tendency towards dark berry fruit. The Traisener Rotenfels vineyard also contributes the power of the Nahe porphyry soil.

The Beisiegel winery cultivates vineyards around Traisen in the northern Nahe region. The Rotenfels – one of the most striking rock formations in Europe outside the Alps – shapes the surrounding vineyards with a deep, mineral-rich subsoil of red porphyry rock, which retains heat and gives the grapes concentrated ripeness.

In the glass, it displays a deep garnet red. The nose offers aromas of blackberry, wild strawberry, and a subtle toasty note, hinting at gentle oak aging. On the palate, it is soft and rounded, with low tannins and a pleasant fruit sweetness balanced by fresh acidity. The finish is short to medium-long and pleasantly berry-like.

Serving suggestion: Serve slightly chilled at 14–16 °C. Pairs well with roast veal, lentil dishes with bacon, or a mature Taleggio. Also a solid, uncomplicated evening wine that requires no fuss.
