Torbato
Torbato is a true Sardinian specialty. Since this late-ripening grape variety is now cultivated almost exclusively by Sella & Mosca, it offers you an authentic glimpse into Alghero's heritage. The Terre Bianche Torbato Alghero displays a delicate yellow color with golden highlights in the glass. You'll immediately notice the fresh fruit aromas, which develop into exciting, varietal nuances as it matures in the bottle. A wonderful companion for evenings when you want to enjoy a glass of wine with character.Filters

Torbato – rare white wine from Sardinia
Torbato is one of the rarest indigenous grape varieties on the island – in the Vinoscout range, you will find two wines that show what this almost forgotten variety can do. The entry price starts at 10.95 euros.
Origin & Character
Torbato grows almost exclusively around Alghero in the northwest of Sardinia, where the city's Catalan past is still palpable in architecture and language – and apparently also in the grape variety, which presumably arrived on the island from the Iberian Peninsula. In the glass, Torbato shows a fresh, medium-weight structure with lively acidity. Typical are aromas of green apple, citrus peel, and white peach, plus a slightly bitter, mineral note on the finish that is reminiscent of the Sardinian coastal landscape. Well-developed examples also develop floral and herbal tones with some bottle aging.
Pairs well with
- Grilled sea bass or sea bream with herbs
- Seafood pasta, bottarga on spaghetti
- Sardinian appetizers such as pane carasau with cream cheese
- Light vegetable quiches or zucchini frittata

Both wines in the range come from the DOC Alghero – the only growing area that lists Torbato as an independent designation. If you are looking for something idiosyncratic from Italy off the beaten white wine path, this is an honest recommendation.
