Roupeiro – White Alentejo Classic

Roupeiro is one of the oldest white grape varieties in Portugal and has been rooted in the Alentejo for centuries. In the Vinoscout assortment, you will find a small, hand-picked selection of wines from this variety – including the Aliestre ONE White.

Origin & Character

The variety comes from the south of Portugal and feels particularly at home in the hot, dry climate of the Alentejo. Roupeiro ripens early and produces wines that seem unusually fresh and aromatic for the region. In the glass, bright citrus fruit, ripe pear, and a subtle herbal note appear – sometimes supplemented by a slightly creamy texture if the wine was aged on the lees. The acidity is moderate, the finish clean and pleasantly long. Young Roupeiro wines are best drunk within a few years of the harvest.
