Bual
Madeira is more than just a wine – it's a piece of history in a glass. The golden-brown wines of the Bual collection owe their character to a fascinating journey: traditionally matured on sea voyages through the tropics, winemakers today use special heat chambers to replicate this maturation process. The result is a wonderfully versatile companion. Whether dry or sweet, the delicate caramel notes are a perfect match for the kitchen or as a special aperitif. Discover a world that combines tradition with uncomplicated enjoyment.Filters

Bual – oxidative Madeira style with depth and sweetness
Bual is one of the classic grape varieties of the Madeira style – complex, sweet, and with impressive longevity. At Vinoscout, you can currently find a wine from this category, starting at 10.90 euros.
Origin & Character
Bual (also known as Boal) grows on the Portuguese Atlantic island of Madeira and provides one of the four classic Madeira styles. The wine sits between the dry Sercial and the sweet Malmsey: medium residual sweetness, but always with a lively acidity that keeps it fresh and long-lasting despite the sweetness. In the glass, Bual shows aromas of dried figs, caramel, walnut, and a hint of smoke – the result of the characteristic Estufagem aging process, where the wine is exposed to controlled heat. The combination of oxidation, heat, and Atlantic air makes Madeira one of the longest-lived wines in the world.
Pairs well with
- Blue cheese such as Roquefort or Gorgonzola
- Nut and caramel desserts, Tarte Tatin
- Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content
