About Casa dos Vinhos da Madeira
Câmara de Lobos - Madeirahenriquesehenriques.pt
Henriques & Henriques –
Madeira wines since 1932
In Câmara de Lobos, one of the oldest wine-growing villages on the island, the roots of the Henriques family reach back to the 15th century. Since 1932, Henriques & Henriques has consolidated this heritage under one roof and is now one of the most well-known Madeira producers of all.
What distinguishes Madeira wine from everything else is the estufagem or canteiro process: controlled heat exposure and slow oxidation create wines that last for decades and gain complexity with every passing year. Notes of roasted nuts, dried figs, and caramelized orange are typical of the house style.
Whether a Sercial with its lively acidity as an aperitif, a medium-sweet Verdelho with cheese, or a fully mature Malmsey to end an evening — the range of these wines reflects the entire diversity of the island.
