Origin & Character

Alfrocheiro is an old Portuguese grape variety, primarily grown in the Alentejo and Dão regions. The variety produces deep-colored, dense red wines that stand out for their lively acidity and fine tannin structure – unusual for the warm climate of the Alentejo. In the glass, dark berry fruits such as blackberry and plum appear, complemented by floral notes of violets and a spicy, slightly mineral finish. Well-aged examples develop additional complexity with time: leather, dried herbs, and a pleasantly long finish.
