Terlaner DOC Magnum

The Terlaner DOC from Cantina Terlan is one of the most reliable white wine cuvées in South Tyrol — and in the magnum bottle it matures even more slowly and evenly.

Cantina Terlan is one of Italy's most prestigious cooperatives. Since 1893, around 100 winegrowing families have been vinifying their grapes together—on porphyry and quartzite soils at altitudes of up to 900 meters. The Terlaner DOC is the estate's classic cuvée: Pinot Bianco as its backbone, complemented by Chardonnay and Riesling Italico.

In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow with green reflections. The nose offers apple blossom, ripe pear, and a hint of white peach, underpinned by a subtle yeasty spice. On the palate, it is fresh and crisp, with lively acidity and a clean, slightly mineral finish. Not a heavy wine—rather precise and straightforward.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027. The magnum bottle is well suited for sharing at a table — the wine stays fresher longer in it than in the 0.75-liter bottle.
Goes well with: asparagus with hollandaise sauce, fried pike-perch, risotto with lemon or mild goat cheese.

Cantina Terlan

Since 1893, the Terlan winery in South Tyrol's Adige Valley has stood for something that has become rare in modern winemaking: patience. What was once founded by 24 winegrowers as a cooperative to emancipate themselves from large landowners is today one of the most prestigious addresses in Alpine winemaking. Cellar master Rudi Kofler, who has shaped the winery since 2002, continues a philosophy established by his predecessor Sebastian Stocker in the 1970s: extended lees aging, consistent focus on quality over quantity, and a legendary wine archive of around 100,000 bottles dating back to 1955. Terlan proves that white wines from volcanic porphyry soil and an Alpine microclimate can be among the longest-lived in the world.
