Cantina Terlan Lunare Gewürztraminer

Cantina Terlan Lunare Gewürztraminer
The Lunare is Cantina Terlan's answer to the question of what Gewürztraminer can do when it is consistently thought through to the end: aromatically charged, vinified dry, with real bite on the finish.
Cantina Terlan is one of South Tyrol's most renowned cooperatives — founded in 1893, today known for white wines with extraordinary aging potential. The Lunare represents the pinnacle of the Gewürztraminer program: the grapes come from the best sites around Terlan, where the porphyry soil provides structure and minerality.
In the glass, rose, lychee, and orange peel open up — the typical aroma profile of the variety, but here with a clear line instead of heaviness. 50% aged in tonneaux (500 l), 50% in stainless steel tanks, ten months of aging on the fine lees: this explains the creamy texture and the long, slightly spicy finish with a fresh bitterness in the finish. Not a wine that forces itself on you — rather one that opens up.
- Food pairing: Foie gras, spicy blue cheese, Asian cuisine with ginger and coriander
- Temperature: 10–12 °C

Since 1893, the Terlan winery in the South Tyrolean Adige Valley has stood for something that has become rare in modern viticulture: patience. What 24 winegrowers once founded as a cooperative is today one of the most renowned addresses in alpine viticulture. The house's philosophy focuses on long lees aging and consistent quality instead of quantity. Terlan proves that white wines from volcanic porphyry soil and an alpine microclimate can be among the longest-lived in the world.
