Monticol Pinot Noir DOC Riserva

Monticol Pinot Noir DOC Riserva
The Monticol Pinot Noir Riserva from Terlan shows what Alto Adige can do with Burgundy grapes: depth instead of bravado, elegance instead of power.
The Terlan winery is one of South Tyrol's most prestigious cooperatives – based in Terlan/Terlano since 1893, it is known for its rigorous quality selection and long aging potential. The Monticol vineyard provides the foundation for this Riserva, which was aged in equal parts in large wooden casks and barriques. This combination allows for controlled oxygenation without overpowering the varietal finesse.
In the glass, it shines ruby red with a light rim. The nose opens with aromas of raspberry and wild berry, along with a hint of roasted cherry and subtle oak spice. On the palate, it displays the interplay of silky tannins and firm acidity typical of South Tyrolean Pinot Noir – lean in body, yet surprisingly present on the finish.
Best served at 16–17 °C . Pairs well with wild salmon fillet with mushroom risotto, venison medallions, mature Taleggio cheese, or pasta with truffles. Open now for an approachable, fruit-forward character – it will develop more complexity after two to three years of cellaring.
