Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges
Nuits-Saint-Georges is one of the most distinctive appellations of the Côte de Nuits — and Louis Jadot, one of the most important négociant houses in Burgundy, shows here what classic vinification means.
Founded in 1859, this Beaune-based winery works with grapes from carefully selected vineyards and relies on traditional cellar practices: controlled fermentation, aging in Burgundy barrels, and extended maturation. The result is wines that remain true to the style of the appellation—structured, with Burgundian finesse.
In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby red. The nose offers blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of licorice, underpinned by earth and subtle toasty notes from the oak aging. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with firm but ripe tannins and lively acidity—the typical structure of a Nuits-Saint-Georges. The finish is long, spicy, and slightly peppery.
Serving suggestion: Best served at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with roast beef, venison stew, or a mature Époisses. Drinking window: now until 2030; becomes even more approachable with some cellaring.
