Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin is considered one of the most powerful addresses in the Côte de Nuits – and Louis Jadot's village wine shows why this reputation is justified: Pinot Noir with backbone, not just charm.

The négociant house Louis Jadot from Beaune has been one of the most reliable interpreters of Burgundy since 1859. In Gevrey-Chambertin, Jadot works with grapes from several plots on the characteristic soils of limestone and clayey marl – a combination that gives the Pinot Noir more structure and depth than in the lighter appellations further south.

In the glass, it shows dark cherry red with a violet rim. On the nose, blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of undergrowth, plus fine spice notes of cinnamon and pepper. On the palate, medium to full body, firm but ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly earthy finish with hints of cedar wood.

Recommendation: Serve at 16–17 °C. Pairs with braised beef cheeks, Coq au Vin, wild duck, or a ripe Époisses. With some time in the cellar, the texture will become even smoother.
