Suolo Rosso Primitivo di Manduria

Suolo Rosso Primitivo di Manduria
A Primitivo di Manduria that shows why this Apulian DOC zone stands for powerful, sun-ripened red wines: dark in the glass, aromatically dense, with real substance in the finish.
Vigneti del Salento works in Salento, the peninsula between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, where the Primitivo grape finds its best expressions on red clay-sand soils – the eponymous suolo rosso. Hot, dry summers and the sea breezes from both directions shape the style: ripe fruit, but with freshness in the back.
In the glass, the Suolo Rosso opens with blackberry, blueberry, and a hint of vanilla, which indicates barrique aging. Added to this is a slight coconut note, typical for American oak. The body is full-bodied with soft, well-integrated tannins – not an edgy young wine, but a Primitivo that presents itself as accessible already.
- Food: Leg of lamb with rosemary, pasta al ragù, grilled sausage, or strong hard cheese
- Temperature: 16–18 °C

Vigneti del Salento is an Italian winery located in the Apulia region. The prevailing climate facilitates grape development through temperature fluctuations between day and night and the proximity to the sea. Additionally, the intense heat partially dries the grapes, increasing their sugar content. All grapes are harvested by hand and processed into wine under the supervision of the winemakers. Vigneti del Salento cultivates grape varieties such as Negroamaro, Montepulciano, Primitivo, and Merlot.
