Product description

Six bottles, one grape variety theme: This pack guides you through Apulia's Primitivo, from the appassimento method to the Riserva from Manduria. You will taste how differently the same grape can sound, depending on whether it is withered, aged in wood, or vinified as a single varietal in the style of the Salento.

The entry is successful with the as, if! Appassimento Primitivo from Torrevento. The grapes wither after the harvest, which concentrates aromas and tannins, similar to Amarone. In the glass, you will find candied orange peel, Amarena cherry, and rose petals, plus a spicy coffee note. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied with a long finish.

As a second highlight, the Diciotto Colline Primitivo di Manduria Riserva, also from Torrevento, is included in the pack. Fully ripe grapes from the hinterland of Manduria, aging in wooden barrels, and Riserva maturation tame the power of the Primitivo. The 2018 vintage received 93 points in Falstaff and Gold at the MundusVini 2025. Expect deep dark fruit of blackberry and plum, soft tannins, and a long cocoa finish.

In addition, there are four more Primitivo di Manduria: The Paolo e Carlo Classe 1966 from Conte di Campiano matures for 12 months in wooden barrels and shows ripe plum, cocoa, and velvety tannins. Zolla and Suolo Rosso from Vigneti del Salento stand for cherry, blackberry, and cocoa or blackberry, blueberry, and vanilla, the latter from red clay-sand soils. The SUD from Feudi di San Marzano brings blackberry, cocoa, and powerful tannins with four months in barrique.

Goes with: Pasta with ragù, grilled lamb with rosemary, beef stews, or aged Pecorino. Serve the wines at 16 to 18 °C.

Six bottles in the pack cost you less than when purchased individually. The pack is suitable as a gift for friends of powerful red wines, as a base for your stock, or for a tasting evening where you can taste style differences side by side.
