Domaine Lafage –
Character wines from the heart of Roussillon
Domaine Lafage is located in the Roussillon region of southern France, at the foot of the snow-capped Pic de Canigou – a massif that has shaped the Pays Catalan for centuries. Jean-Marc Lafage, a seventh-generation winemaker, cultivates old vineyards on steep slopes, where Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan grapes root deeply in the schist and granite soils. The combination of Mediterranean warmth, cool Tramontane winds, and mineral-rich soils gives the wines their distinctive vibrancy.
Alongside him is Eliane Lafage, oenologist and co-creator of each vintage. Together they pursue an approach that combines precision in the cellar with respect for the terroir: selective hand-harvesting, gentle vinification, and targeted oak aging depending on the cuvée. The result is wines that don't pit fruit and structure against each other, but rather harmonize them.
The range extends from the rich Cayrol – a Carignan from the Vallée de l'Agly with dark berry fruit and a spicy finish – to the complex Grenache au cube, which unites three regions in one glass. For those who prefer something lighter, there's the Miraflors Rosé: fresh, aromatic, perfect for enjoying at the table in summer.
