Deux Parcelles – Our Red Wine of the Year!

Some wines are not simply created in the cellar. They are born from encounters, from landscapes, from memories – and from that rare moment when you feel: something special is growing here. Deux Parcelles is exactly such a wine. Together with Jean-Marc Lafage, we created it in the spring of 2026 in the heart of the Roussillon – as a tribute to one of the wildest, most pristine, and at the same time most fascinating wine landscapes in France.

The name already says what it is about: two plots, two worlds, one wine. On one side, the old vineyards in the mountains, where the Roussillon slowly transitions into the foothills of the Pyrenees. On the other side, the vines near the sea, shaped by salty air, cool winds, and that Mediterranean brightness that one later believes to rediscover in the glass.

The plots in the mountains are a piece of family history. Over 60-year-old vines, deeply rooted in barren soils of gneiss and granite, were already tended by the generations before Jean-Marc – by people who knew that great wines cannot be forced. You accompany them. You listen to them. These old vines yield only a little fruit, but what they give possesses incredible depth: dark berries, spice, concentration, structure, and that almost silent power that only very old vines can produce.

Quite different, but just as precious, are the vineyards near the sea. Here stand vines that are partly over 90 years old. They have experienced decades of Mediterranean summers, dry soils, and countless winds. The Mistral and the cool air from the sea sweep through the rows of vines, dry the grapes, preserve freshness, and bring a special tension to the wine. These plots do not provide lush quantities – their yields are extremely low – but the quality is extraordinary. Every grape seems condensed: sun, wind, salt, stone, and time in a single berry.

From these two worlds, Deux Parcelles was born: a red wine that combines the power of the mountains with the elegance of the sea. Already in the glass, it shows a deep, dark color, almost like black ink with ruby-red reflections. On the nose, it opens up in a multi-layered and seductive way: ripe blackberries, black cherries, cassis, and dark plums combine with notes of cocoa, roasted coffee, wild herbs, a bit of pepper, and a hint of vanilla. Nothing seems loud or overloaded – everything is concentrated, sensual, and precise.

On the palate, it becomes clear why we have made this wine our Red Wine of the Year. It is powerful, but not heavy. Dense, but not tired. Its old vines give it depth and fullness, while the cool influences from the high altitude and proximity to the sea ensure freshness, tension, and elegance. The tannins are soft, fine, and wonderfully integrated. The wine glides over the tongue, lingers long, becomes more complex with every sip, and leaves behind that rare feeling that you are not just drinking wine, but experiencing a landscape.

Deux Parcelles is a wine for special evenings, for long conversations, for good food – but also for that one moment when you want to pour yourself something great into the glass. It goes excellently with braised beef, lamb, game, Mediterranean dishes, aged cheese, or simply a quiet evening where the wine is allowed to play the leading role.

This is not just any red wine. It is the essence of two extraordinary plots, carried by old vines, hard work, family tradition, and the signature of Jean-Marc Lafage. A wine from the mountains to the sea. Wild, elegant, deep, and unforgettable.
