Meursault 1er Cru Charmes in HK
Meursault Premier Cru Charmes is one of the most sought-after vineyards in the Côte de Beaune – and Louis Jadot's interpretation shows why: barrel fermentation and controlled aging in wood give the wine structure without overpowering the fruit.
Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy's most important négociant wineries, based in Beaune since 1859. The Charmes vineyard lies in the southern part of Meursault, where deep limestone soils produce particularly ripe, textured Chardonnays – fuller-bodied than the more northerly Perrières or Genevrières vineyards, but with a distinct mineral character.
The glass reveals aromas of roasted hazelnut, white peach, and a hint of brioche from barrel aging. The palate is full-bodied with a creamy texture, yet kept in balance by a firm acidity. The finish is long, slightly buttery, with a mineral aftertaste.
Serving temperature: 12–13 °C. Drinking window: now until 2030+. Pairs well with lobster with beurre blanc, veal medallions in cream sauce or mature Comté cheese.
