Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages

Gamay from Beaujolais Villages is often underestimated—yet it delivers exactly what a good everyday wine should: drinkability, fruit, and character without heaviness. This one from Louis Jadot is a solid example of that.

Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy's most renowned négociants, but has also been active in Beaujolais for decades. The grapes for this wine come from three different villages within the Beaujolais Villages appellation—an area north of the standard Beaujolais, situated on granite and schist-rich soils that allow for significantly greater depth than the base Beaujolais AOP.

In the glass, it displays aromas of raspberry, sour cherry, and violet, with a slightly earthy, herbal note in the background. The 14-day maceration period yields more extract than the carbonic-maceration-heavy Primeur line—the tannins are present but soft enough for immediate enjoyment. Aging exclusively in stainless steel keeps the fruit clear and unobtrusive.

Serving temperature 14–16 °C. Pairs well with charcuterie, grilled sausage, lentil soup with bacon, or a simple tomato and mozzarella salad. Drinking window: now until 2026.
