Pouilly-Fuissé, Louis Jadot

Pouilly-Fuissé, Louis Jadot
Pouilly-Fuissé is the best-known white wine of southern Burgundy — and Louis Jadot's version shows why the appellation deserves this reputation: single-varietal Chardonnay, partially fermented in barrique, with a depth that one does not necessarily expect here.
Louis Jadot has been one of the defining négociant houses of Burgundy since 1859. From Beaune, the house works with vineyards across the Côte d'Or and the Mâconnais — the Pouilly-Fuissé comes from the municipalities of Pouilly and Fuissé at the foot of the Rock of Solutré, on calcareous clay and loam soil.
In the glass, it shows ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of roasted hazelnut from the barrique contact. The acidity is present but integrated — not an edgy wine, but one with melt and a round mouthfeel. The finish brings a fine mineral limestone echo.
