Clos de la Roche Grand Cru in HK Maison Louis Jadot
Clos de la Roche is the largest Grand Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis in terms of area – and one of the most characterful in the Côte de Nuits. Louis Jadot, the traditional négociant winery from Beaune with roots dating back to 1859, vinifies this Pinot Noir with the respect that such a site demands.
The rugged limestone subsoil of the vineyard gives the wine its backbone: dense, fine-grained tannins, a vibrant acidity, and a minerality that truly blossoms after years of bottle aging. The nose reveals dark cherries, cassis, and violets, underpinned by a hint of smoke, cedar, and damp forest floor. Complex on the palate, with a long, spicy finish.
Drinking window: at least 5–8 years after harvest; well-stored bottles develop over 15–20 years. Serving temperature 16–18 °C.
Pairs well with venison medallions with cranberry jus, braised duck, mature Époisses or strong Comté.
