Niepoort White Port

Niepoort White Port
A white port wine that shows how versatile the Douro can be: semi-dry, nutty, fresh — and significantly more approachable than the classic red Tawnies.
Niepoort is one of the most prestigious wineries in the Douro Valley. Founded in 1842, this family-run business is known for its meticulous craftsmanship and uses both traditional lagares and modern fermentation tanks. Their White Port matures for an average of three years in small, used wooden casks—enough time to develop depth without losing its freshness.
In the glass, it shines with a warm gold hue. The nose reveals aromas of roasted almonds, walnuts, and a hint of orange peel. On the palate, it is semi-dry with a delicate sweetness balanced by lively acidity—the finish is concentrated and pleasantly fresh.
Serving suggestion: Best served well chilled at 8–10 °C — classically as a Port and Tonic with tonic water, ice cubes and a lemon slice. Neat as an aperitif with salted almonds, olive tapenade or a mild goat cheese.
