A young Tawny Port from Niepoort – straightforward, sweet and spicy, and without the solemnity of older Reservas. For those who enjoy port wine without much ceremony.

Niepoort is one of the most renowned port wine houses in the Douro Valley. Family-owned since 1842, the house is primarily known for its consistent quality – from simple Tawny Ports to vintage Ports from top vineyards. The Junior is the accessible entry point into the Tawny range: aged for around three years in small wooden casks, just long enough to develop initial oxidative notes.

In the glass, it shines a rich ruby ​​red. The nose reveals aromas of dried plum, walnut, and a hint of caramel. On the palate, subtle sweetness, medium body, and a rounded finish with a gentle warmth. Not a complex, age-worthy wine – but an honest, easy-drinking Tawny without any rough edges.

Served well chilled (12–14 °C), it pairs well with blue cheese, walnut tart, or simply with almonds and dried fruit. It also makes a great, uncomplicated digestif after a long evening. The 0.375-liter bottle is ideal if you don't want to open a whole bottle.
