Niepoort The Junior Ruby Port

A classic introduction to the world of Niepoort ports: fruity, direct and ready to drink without hesitation.

Niepoort is one of the few independent port wine houses that has remained family-owned to this day – since 1842, now in its fifth generation. The Dutch-Portuguese house from Vila Nova de Gaia is known for its meticulous craftsmanship and a clear style that runs through its entire range: from the simple Ruby to the legendary Vintage Ports and Garrafeiras.

The Junior Ruby is made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz grapes from the Douro Valley. A short aging period in large wooden barrels preserves the vibrant fruit: blackberry, ripe plum, and a hint of blueberry, underpinned by dark chocolate and a mild spiciness. The finish is smooth, with rounded tannins and a pleasant sweetness – without becoming heavy.
