All Lost – a name steeped in history. In the 17th century, the governor of the Cape granted the land to the widow Cloete. She was one of the first women to venture into the Swartland. In 1704, she traveled alone to Stellenbosch – upon her return, she found her farm and house burned to the ground. Thus, the sad name originated. But from this tragedy, a jewel grew. The first grapes were harvested in 1806, and the estate has been in the Malan family for over 140 years. Today, it comprises 227 hectares and produces wines with international acclaim. A fortunate destiny – despite everything.

Swartland red wines with a history
Allesverloren Wine Estate bears a name that recalls one of South Africa's most dramatic founding stories. In the early 18th century, the Cape Governor granted the land to the widow Cloete — she was among the first settlers in the rugged Swartland. When she returned from a trip to Stellenbosch in 1704, she found her farm and house burned to the foundations. The name remained, the estate did not.
The first grapes were harvested in 1806. The Malan family has been running the winery for over 140 years — today on 227 hectares, nestled in the dry, wind-swept landscape of the Swartland north of Cape Town. The terroir of shale and granite, combined with the region's Mediterranean climate, shapes red wines with structure, depth, and an unmistakably South African character.
The wines of Allesverloren stand for artisanal continuity: classically vinified, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Tinta Barocca — varieties that have been rooted in the Swartland for generations. Internationally awarded, but never detached from their origin.
