All Lost – a name steeped in history. In the 17th century, the governor of the Cape granted the land to the widow Cloete. She was one of the first women to venture into the Swartland. In 1704, she traveled alone to Stellenbosch – upon her return, she found her farm and house burned to the ground. Thus, the sad name originated. But from this tragedy, a jewel grew. The first grapes were harvested in 1806, and the estate has been in the Malan family for over 140 years. Today, it comprises 227 hectares and produces wines with international acclaim. A fortunate destiny – despite everything.

The name evokes loss – and indeed, it is the story that carries this winery's narrative. In the early 18th century, the widow Cloete was one of the first female settlers to venture into the Swartland , that harsh, hot region north of Cape Town, now renowned for its powerful red wines. Upon her return from Stellenbosch, she found her farm and house burned to the ground. The name Allesverloren – "everything lost" – remained, even long after the estate had been rebuilt.

Grapes have been harvested here since 1806, and the winery has been in the hands of the Malan family for over 140 years. The vines grow on 227 hectares in a terroir characterized by sandstone and schist, with long, dry summers and cool nights – ideal conditions for varieties such as Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, and Shiraz, which give the winery its character.
