Everything Lost Tinta Barocca

Tinta Barocca is one of the oldest grape varieties in the Swartland – and Allesverloren is one of the few wineries in South Africa to dedicate a bottle to it. The result is a red wine with real character: an inky purple in the glass, powerful and dense.

The Allesverloren winery is located in the Rooiberg Mountains of the Swartland, one of South Africa's hottest and driest wine regions. The Malherbe family has farmed the estate for generations – the name originates from the Boer War and means something like "everything lost". The barren granite and slate soils give the wines a structure and depth rarely found in warmer regions.

In the glass, the Tinta Barocca displays aromas of cassis, blackberry jelly, and ripe plums, underpinned by dark chocolate and a hint of espresso. On the palate, it offers powerful, well-integrated tannins with noticeable richness and density – a wine with substance without feeling heavy. The finish is long and spicy.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, grilled beef ribs, or strong hard cheeses like Manchego. Drinking window: now until 2028.
