Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum

A Cabernet Sauvignon that shows what the Colchagua Valley can do: dark fruit, structure, and depth — in the 1.5-liter magnum with special aging potential.

Montes has been one of the defining wineries of Chile since the early 1990s. The Alpha line comes from hillside vineyards in the Colchagua Valley, one of the best Cabernet areas in South America. Dry climate, cool nights, and well-drained soils ensure concentrated grapes with a natural acidity structure. Aged in French oak, some of it new.

In the glass, the 2021 shows aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, plus cedarwood, dark chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, medium to full weight, ripe, well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish.

The magnum bottle slows down maturation, easily until 2033. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs with grilled beef steak, lamb shank with rosemary, ossobuco, or strong hard cheese like Manchego.
